Mathematics is taught by class teachers in Years 2, 3 and 4 and by subject specialists in Years 5-8. Our aim is to instil confidence in Mathematics in every boy to enable them to achieve their full potential. Fundamental to every child's success in this subject is having the 'basics' and learning times-tables and mental techniques in particular are stressed especially in the early years. All classrooms are equipped with interactive boards and the teachers use the program Smart Notebook for every day teaching with a variety of other programs. Our curriculum encompasses the National Curriculum, and the Common Entrance and Public School Scholarship syllabuses. Whether we are preparing a scholar or a boy supported by our extra tuition team, the Papplewick Maths Department aims to provide all boys with the practical skills and the knowledge necessary for them to develop into confident and enthusiastic mathematicians at their senior schools and beyond.
