At Papplewick we pride ourselves in being able to offer an excellent range of instrumental lessons and go the extra mile to facilitate our students musical interests. With a team of fifteen expert instrumental teachers we are well placed to guide your child through their instrumental journey.
Here is a list of all the individual music lessons your son has access to at Papplewick. Should you have a more specialist request then we are always happy to help facilitate this if we can. Please contact the Director of Music directly if this is the case.

If you already know which instrument you wish your son to learn then please complete and return the instrument request form along with the lesson deposit to the Susan Brown at brownsus@papplewick.org.uk. Please note that if your child is already learning an instrument at school you do not need to complete another form unless they wish to learn a second instrument. To cancel any lessons a whole terms notice must be given in writing to the Director of Music.
How do instrumental lessons work?
Once you have submitted your application for music lessons you will be contacted by either the Director of Music or an instrumental teacher who will inform you of your sons lesson times and where they will be held. An instrument can be arranged for them should they need one. Papplewick has many instruments available for hire and we can also assist you in purchasing one if required.
Your child will receive weekly 35 minute lessons from their instrumental teacher in one of our purpose built practice rooms. Lessons are timetabled on a rotational basis to avoid missing the same curriculum lesson twice. No music lessons are timetabled during English and Maths and from Year 6 we also avoid Science too. Timetables will be emailed to you by the instrumental teachers and children also receive copies to stick into their planners.
How do I pay for lessons?
The money you pay to the school when you first sign up for lessons is a refundable deposit that is returned to you once you leave the school or have stopped lessons by giving the required one term’s notice. Instrumental Tutors will then invoice directly at the beginning of each term.
Should you wish to know more about music lessons at Papplewick we have created a downloadable guide called
‘Supporting Your child’s Instrumental Tuition at School’.
